Question Number: 19086

Kicks From The Penalty mark 5/14/2008

RE: uefa B Adult

David Tedds of Leicester, leicestershire england asks...

i have recently been told that during a penalty shoot out the following happened.
The player took the kick, the keeper parried forward up twenty feet into the air he then fell on the floor, the ball bounced on the six yard line and spun over the keeper into the net.
Should that count or is there a rule that states once the keeper has parried the ball forward the penalty is over?

Answer provided by Referee Steve Montanino

It counts! The energy of the ball had not expired and the ball did not touch anything unlawful.

Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson

Hi David,
good goal provided the referee was aware enough to leave the whistle in the pocket.
Cheers

Answer provided by Referee Keith Contarino

This is a goal!! The shot is not complete until the ball has gone out of play or has stopped all movement.
