how do you know if it is a goal kick or a corner kick ?

Mikayia, all you have to do is look at the referee's signal. If he points to the goal area, it is a goal kick. If he points to one of the corners it is a corner kick. To find out what constitutes a goal kick or corner kick, ask your coach or take a basic referee course.

Goal kicks and corner kicks are used when the ball went over the goal line, but a goal has not been scored. If the defending team last touched the ball, it is a corner. If attackers, a goal kick.

When a defender kicks the ball over their own goal line the game is restated with a corner kick. When the ball is kicked over the opponent's goal line by an attacker the game is restarted with a goal kick.
