Question Number: 19778League Specific 8/20/2008RE: Under 14 karen of beith, ayrshire asks...my son is 10 and has bn asked to play with the under 13s is that allowed Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson If the YOUTH HIMSELF, his parents, league bylaws, the coach and the older kids are ok with it then certainly a possibility. Playng up because of skill and size is an easier sell then older less skilled playing against younger opponents. If it is permitted in the association constitution just BE ABSOLUTELY SURE the youth WANTS to, watch his ego and attitude closely and beware of overzealous parents pushing too hard or too much soccer taking away from school and friends . Although in general I support a youth playing to potential I have seen examples of burn out, injury and family issues go very badly in some cases. Cheers
