Question Number: 19815Law 15 - Throw In 8/25/2008RE: rec Under 12 Rex of el cajon, CA usa asks...When a player throws in the ball that lands in the field of play and then rolls out of bounds without being touched, who gets the ball? Answer provided by Referee Michelle Maloney Let's see. The ball is in play because it has entered the plane of the field. It leaves the field last touched by player who threw it.
Assuming it exits over a touchline, the restart will be a throw for the other team.
Should it exit over the goal line, the restart will depend on whether the thrower was a defender near his own goal line or an attacker in his opponent's half.
