Question Number: 19889Law 15 - Throw In 9/6/2008RE: rec Under 15 christina of bethel, connecticut united states asks...if the ball is thrown in and it hits the center referee and goes in the attacking goal, is it a goal? Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson No Goal! However, one has to wonder why the referee is in a position to let that occur? It is impossible to score DIRECTLY into goal on a throw in. If this occurs it is a goal kick if you throw the ball into the opposition's goal and a corner kick if you throw it into your own goal. The officials are no different than the corner flag or goal post as part of the field conditions the ball in off the referee is no different then in off the post. Another player from either team must contact with the ball after the restart so it can INDIRECTLY go into the goal. Cheers
