Question Number: 20002Law 16 - Goal Kick 9/19/2008RE: Middle School boys Under 14 Don Simmons of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky USA asks...Is there no offsides on a goal kick? If it's a windy day, and I have a big fullback who can bust the ball, I place a forward about 15 yards past midfield...but the defense holds their position at midfield. My monster fullbacks kick sails in the air...does not touch anyone else, and reaches my forward...is he offsides? Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson . The first line in law 11 IT IS NOT AN OFFENCE INITSELF TO BE IN AN OFFSIDE POSITION especially when the exemption for involvement is applied on a directly recieved ball THe initial Offside positional restriction is EXEMPT on THREE restarts, corner kick, throw -in and the GOAL KICK. NO offside play on! NO (s) on offside either Cheers
