Question Number: 20097Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct 9/28/2008RE: rec Under 17 logan carroll of paducah , ky mccracken asks...a player was recently given a red card for sliding on the turf after a goal at a high school match in owensboro. is this a high school specific rule. my laws of the game don't appear to allow this. is this a high school specific rule? Answer provided by Referee Steve Montanino Laws of the game will not cover this. The HS rules will... there is a 'soft' (red/yellow) card shown for this sort of behavior.
However, as a referee who works HS, if the player merely slid in celebration... so what? Still, the referee was correct by the rules if he determined that the celebration was excessive.
