Question Number: 20138Mechanics 10/3/2008RE: Select Under 15 Adam of St. Louis, MO USA asks...When an AR signals a foul, and the ref blows the whistle for that signal, how would he indicate that the foul would be an indirect? I will soon be working a 3-man system, though I have several years experience with a 'competitive' rec league where we use that barbaric 2-man system. Answer provided by Referee Keith Contarino If you are asking how does the AR signal to the referee that the foul the AR has called is an indirect free kick foul, that's something that should be gone over in the pregame with the referee crew as there is no published standard for this. The signal we use a lot in my area is the AR after the referee has acknowledged the foul, will hold his hand palm out over his shirt pocket.

Cheers
