Question Number: 20174League Specific 10/6/2008RE: school Under 14 Adam Porth of Bellevue, Id usa asks...Mr. Ref, I am confused about the yellow/red card determination for 'subsequent caution' in the u.s. high school rules. If a player is issued a yellow for dissent, and later another yellow for dissent. Does the player receive a yellow/red or a red card? Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol Yellow/red, aka 'soft' red.

View Referee Gary Voshol profileAnswer provided by Referee Michelle Maloney It's a soft red, as Ref Voshol notes. What that means is the player can no longer play in this game, but the coach can substitute for this player.
If it was a straight red for serious foul play or violent conduct or some such, then the player could not be replaced.
