View Referee Gary Voshol profileAnswer provided by Referee Richard Dawson Well if the kick is missed I MUST have signeld otherwise why would he go? If a goal was scored we definately did not signal and we are retaking. PERCEPTION is a limited truth is it not? If we are retaking then the distinct possibility is the PK kicker will cautioned and shown the yellow card UNLESS there was BLOODY GOOD REASON because the referee should make it very very clear NOTHING occurs until you signal with the whistle. Thus an illegal whistle from the crowd MIGHT fool him as we WOULD hear it we might forgive. A PK is a ceremonial event and an improper one could catch a keeper unaware and even cause injury if it was allowed to proceed as a quickly taken kick. Cheers
