Question Number: 20868League Specific 2/19/2009RE: Adult John Dias of Montreal, Canada asks...At an FU9 game this past weekend, my daughter was fouled from behind inside the box on a clear break to the goal. A penalty kick was awarded, however, a teammate with a strong leg actualy took the penalty kick for the team, resulting in a score. I was looking at the boxscore for the came on the league website and noticed that my daughter had been credited with the goal. Is this a mistake on the part of the referee noting down the wrong jersey number, or is it the norm to credit the goal to the player who was foyuled and earned the kick as opposed to the player who took the free kick. Thanks in advance Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson Mistake most likely. But your daughter earned the opportunity, perhaps as a team sport that was good enough for the statitician or concerned parent trying to help out with a team website! Cheers

You'd have to ask those who decided to publish the stats how they get the information. Any statistics are at the whim of the compiler; there is no provision for them in the Laws of the Game.
