Question Number: 21005League Specific 3/20/2009RE: Rec. Under 16 Edward Hearn of Fernando de la Mora, Paraguay asks...My son, 15 years old, signed up for a team in one country. Can he play in another country before his 18th birthday? Answer provided by Referee Michelle Maloney Unless he's signed a contract with provisions that say he can't, it is hard to imagine what difference it would make.
Some leagues have the youth groups that feed their professional teams, and those guys do have some strict provisions. But if your son is playing in youth soccer associations, unaffliated with any pro teams, it would seem rather unlikely that his age would keep him from playing in more than one place.
The greatest danger, it would seem, would be overextending his committments. It's hard to devote quality time to two teams, plus school.
