Question Number: 21037Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct 3/26/2009RE: Rec Adult Evan of Milwaukee, WI USA asks...This question is a follow up to question 20959 In Soccer, when playing a ball must the player be in bounds? The ball could be on the side line and the player kicks from out of bounds. What is the ruling? Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol Play is not stopped until the entirety of the ball crosses the line. Players may leave the field in the normal course of play.

View Referee Gary Voshol profileAnswer provided by Referee Keith Contarino Players are allowed to leave the field of play temporarily during the normal course of play and may play the ball. The ball is not out of play until all the ball has crossed over all the touch or goal line either on the ground or in the air.
