Question Number: 21168Mechanics 4/21/2009RE: High School Varsity High School Brad Harman of Columbia, SC USA asks...This is a referee mechanics question. In which hand should the AR hold the flag? Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol During play, the AR should hold the flag in the hand that makes the flag most visible to the referee. That means when the AR changes direction from sprinting toward the goal to sprinting toward the half line, the flag changes hands.
For signals, the flag should be held in the hand that indicates the direction of the restart. For offside and goal kicks, the signal is made with the hand closest to the goal.
