Question Number: 21225Kicks From The Penalty mark 4/28/2009RE: Parochial School League (7th & 8th grade) Under 15 Denise of Nashville, TN USA asks...My daughter's school team had their first tournament game today. The game was tied at the end of regulation play and per our rules they went straight to PKs. The other team was permitted to change goalies prior to the commencement of kicks. Should this have been permitted? The goalie was a player on the field at the time match play ended. Answer provided by Referee Keith Contarino Also, you say this is a parochial school. Are they playing by FIFA rules? If they are, the keeper at the end of the match may be CHANGED with another player that was on the field at the end of play. the only time the keeper could be SUBSTITUTED for would be if the keeper were injured. You may, however, be playing under a different set of rules.

View Referee Richard Dawson profileAnswer provided by Referee Michelle Maloney Did they change the keeper with another player who was already on the field? If so, no problem. If these were Kicks from the Penalty Mark, replacement of the keeper is not allowed unless the keeper was injured during the taking of the kicks, and the team had substitutions left to use. Many tournaments have their own rules on how tie breakers will work, and without knowing what the rules for this tournament said, it is hard to know whether what happened is allowable or not.
