Question Number: 21226Kicks From The Penalty mark 4/28/2009RE: high school Under 15 soccer lover of morgan county, Al asks...The other day we had to go to pks and the ref said to kick and then the goaie said to hold on and they yellow cared her but should they have just given me the goal and even if they could not do that would it have been all right for me to kick it even when she said to hold on Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson If the referee signalled the PK to go ahead then you have a green light to kick. If the referee felt the keeper's cry was USB and you MISSED you get a retake! If you score the goal is awarded! It a win win situation for you! Cheers

And this should NOT have been done if the keeper wasn't ready. Using voice to order the kick is not appropriate procedure. Even so, assuming the keeper appeared ready, the referee signals with the whistle, and at that point the keeper says to hold on, and you still kick, there is no reason why a goal shouldn't count that I can think of. Why the referee felt the need to award a caution to the keeper puzzles me, but since we weren't there, I won't speculate. I hope you aren't saying they gave you the goal even though you didn't kick? That would be totally wrong. But kicking it after the whistle regardless of what the keeper is doing is perfectly legal.
