The current Laws Of The Game in the Interpretations section pages 69-74 have excellent diagrams for referee positioning. They also give diagrams for positioning of ARs.

is your national sounding board. I suggest trying that site for input as well. There are many excellent referees there willing to help out a colleague with information and direction closer to your home. In fact we are looking for a qualified assessor/instructor from that region to participate on the panel. If you run across a good one get him or her to give us a call :o)
Sometimes there are subtle differences in how the respective national associations apply the laws ! As my colleague indicates the fIFA additional instructions offer pretty detailed concepts.
I was once aske dwhere the best place was to be ?
I tend to reply where you can see the most!
