Question Number: 21727Law 15 - Throw In 8/1/2009RE: competitive Adult Pedro of manchester , nh USA asks...Can a player throw the ball in to the keeper and is the keeper allowed to use his hands to recieve the ball Answer provided by Referee Gene Nagy Yes a player can do that. The goalie can receive the ball in his hand as long as he is in his own penalty area. The only exception is that the goalie's TEAM-MATE cannot be doing the throwing.

View Referee Gene Nagy profileAnswer provided by Referee Jason Wright A player can throw the ball to his own keeper - but if it goes directly to the keeper (ie nobody else touches it), the keeper cannot handle the ball. If he handles it in his own penalty area from an opponent taking the throw in, that's fine.

If he does handle this throw-in an indirect free kick is awarded to the opponents at the spot of the handling subject to rules in Law 13. If an opponent throws the ball in, the keeper is free to handle it inside his own penalty area
