View Referee Keith Contarino profileAnswer provided by Referee Jason Wright The corner posts - like the crossbar, goalposts, referee and assistant referees are all treated as inanimate objects, no different to a tuft of grass. If the ball hits them, we simply continue play - even if there is a signifcant affect on play or the ball's trajectory. If the ball hits the flag and goes over the touch line the restart would be a throw-in, just the same as if it didn't hit the flag.
