Question Number: 22457

League Specific 11/7/2009

RE: College

dale of oklahoma city, OK usa asks...

This question is a follow up to question 22431

Thanks for your responses. The goal was scored by the kicker of the DFK. I was very surprised to see such a thing after watching for 15 years. The foul was committed on a girl who had broken free toward the goal. I was standing nearby and have great photos of it, so I even had the opportunity to look back at it on my camera. As it is the play had no bearing on the outcome of the game, and my purpose for writing was just to make sure I understood the laws of the game. I must admit, though, I don't think that referee should be officiating college matches.

Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson

I would think the team scored upon would protest the outcome?
If what you say is true the referee assignor for the college matches needs a heads up to correct this serious misapplication of the law!
Cheers

Hi
I would be very interested in the referee's opinion on this as it is such a fundamental part of the laws that I would not expect any referee to get this wrong certainly not at a college game. I'm surprised more was not made of the decision during the game and why the players accepted such a decision?
