Question Number: 22617Kicks From The Penalty mark 12/6/2009RE: Adult Tracy of scottsdale, az usa asks...Your game has ended and you are going into penalty kicks. Are you able to change your goalie? Answer provided by Referee Michelle Maloney Any player on the field may switch with the goalkeeper with the referee's permission. No substitution may be made for the keeper unless during the process of taking the kicks the keeper is injured AND the team has a remaining substitution (assuming limited substitution game). In an unlimited substitution game, no substitution may be made unless the keeper is injured during the taking of the kicks. In other words, a team cannot sub out a goalkeeper they don't want having to defend the kicks from the mark. Their only choice is to have the keeper change with a player on the field.

Referee Maloney has explained very well the sitaution regarding the use of a substitution during KFTPM. The team by the way is sole judge of any injury not the referee.

In addition, a goalkeeper who becomes injured during the KFTPM phase may be replaced by a subsitute (assuming that a team has not used all of its substitutions).
