Question Number: 22954Law 5 - The Referee 3/16/2010RE: select Under 15 yo of lincoln, nebraska us asks...what happens if the ref gets the ball caught under his feet Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi The simple answer is nothing. The referee is just part of the field of play so if the ball hits the referee or he/she stops the ball accidentally it is just play on. Referees do try to stay out of the way of players and the ball but it is not always possible.

The referee will try to not touch the ball, but it sometimes happens. The players should continue to play as if the ball had hit a twig or sprinkler head.
