Question Number: 23010Law 15 - Throw In 3/26/2010RE: new Under 12 Bruce holt of knoxville, tn us asks...If on a throw in the ball first touches the ground out of bounds, bounces a couple of times but eventually rolls onto the field of play, is it in play? What would be the correct call here? Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol Page 126 in the Laws of the Game, Interpretation and Guidelines section:

If the ball touches the ground before entering the field of play, the throw-in is retaken by the same team from the same position provided that it was taken in line with the correct procedure. If the throw-in is not taken in line with the correct procedure, it is retaken by the opposing team.
