Thank you both for the prompt responses. To be clear, I thought the coach was bringing a registered U15 player. As long as the player had the proper documentation he would be allowed to play the game. That is how our league works. I was not intentionally setting a coach or player up for disappointment. The officials in our league are required to check passes and my point was and is I had no problem with the guest player as long as he was legitimately registered somewhere. I probably should not have posted the question on this forum. Thanks again Steve and Dennis for your time.

This really isn't the forum for your question, I agree, and thank you for your patience and understanding. Generally, this type of question should be addressed directly to the league in question and in writing.

The league should be very concerned about unregistered players, as this poses insurance and coverage issues. If they don't already have a policy asking referees to check for appropriate registration, they need one, and the referee assignor should be informed of what happened. If this was a referee who doesn't normally work the league's games, s/he may not have had all the information needed, and the assignor is the one who is responsible for informing the referees.
