how much time is allowed for a throw in?

Hi Jerry
It is not defined but it must be taken without delay. The referee will allow the player time to get to the ball, to decide what he is going to do and to then put the ball into play. The Laws allow for a player to be cautioned for delaying the restart of play.

There is no set amount of time. Law 12 states that a player can be cautioned for delaying the restart of play. If the referee feels that this is what is being done..then a caution may be issued.
