Question Number: 24096Law 15 - Throw In 10/6/2010RE: Select Tournament Under 12 Walt Heatherly of Hendersonville , TN USA asks...In a tournament last week I issued a caution for unsporting behavior (unfairly distracting the thrower). My question is not whether the card was appropriate for the age. After I recorded the information I awarded a rethrow to the attacking team. The attacking team's coach believed that it should have been an indirect kick where the misconduct occurred. I said that it was a throw and he calmly let it go but later I wondered whether I made the correct decision. Should there be a rethrow or am indirect free kick after a caution for UB- unfairly distracting the thrower? Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Walt The offence happened before the ball was in play so the correct restart is the throw in.
