Question Number: 24161

The Technical Area 10/15/2010

RE: Pro Adult

Mian Rizwan Ali of Lahore, Punjab Pakistan asks...

How the Referee will eject the officials from Dugout or team bench during the match? With Red Card or by waving of hands.

Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol

Cards are not to be shown to anyone but players.

If a team official behaves in an irresponsible manner, she is dismissed from the field and the surrounding area. (What that area is depends on the situation - a local park, a stadium, etc.) The referee tells the official that she is being dismissed and must leave. There is no need for any handwaving. If the official will not leave, the referee will abandon the match.

Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh

Hi Mian
The referee simply asks the official/s to leave the technical area. Cards are not shown unless the official is listed as a player or a substitute on the match card ie player manager.
Cards are only shown to players and substitutes.
