Question Number: 24252Law 1- The Field 10/30/2010RE: Under 10 Heidi Lehman of Hendersonville, TN USA asks...There are yellow lines all around the field. Where are spectators allowed to sit? Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol Are the yellow lines the field boundaries (the goal lines and touch lines)? Then I'd say the parents have to be back at least 5 yards - that gives the players, coaches and officials the space they need.
The yellow lines might be to mark the technical areas - the spot where the substitutes and coaches sit/stand. So the parents would have to be farther back than that.

If there are no clearly defined spectator area I would ask the coach where would be appropriate to sit.
In general if spectator are five yards or more away from the field of play that would be allowed.
