View Referee Keith Contarino profileAnswer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi If the referee is incapacitated for whatever reason play stops immediately. If the referee is unable to continue a decision will be made as to who will take over the CR duties. At the highest level the 4th official takes over. At lower levels the senior AR takes over and a replacement AR is found. Depending on the status of the replacement AR a decision will be made as to his duties for the remainder of the game. If he is a club official his duties will be ball in and out of play decisions only.
