Question Number: 24962Law 15 - Throw In 5/17/2011RE: Adult shellie caster of washington , pennsylvania usa asks...when you have a throw in to the game and a person throws the ball in and it goes in the air and goes in the net is that considered a goal??? I thought it had to touch a player??
Answer provided by Referee Dennis Wickham No goal can be scored (in either direction) directly from a throw-in. The ball must touch another player.

A goal cannot be scored directly from a throw in. The restart is a goal kick if the throw in was by an attacker and a corner kick if it was a defender who took the throw in.
