Question Number: 25131Law 13 - Free Kicks 6/24/2011RE: Under 19 Steven of sydney, nsw australia asks...Regarding indirect FK the law states it must 'subsequently' touch a player before entering goal . So a deflection or rebound it wouldn't count ? Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Steven
On an indirect free kick a goal is awarded as long as it touches any other player including opponents before entering the goal. A deflection or a rebound off an opponent counts as a touch. If the ball enters directly it is not awarded and the restart is a goal kick. A deflection off the referee or frame of the goal does not count as a touch.
