Yes. Goal kicks were made direct when the Laws of the Game were rewritten 15 years ago. Do they not teach this in entry-level referee classes in Scotland?

Hi Paul
A goal can be scored directly from a goalkick but only against the opposing team.
Older referees will remember when a goal could not be scored directly from a goal kick or a kick off. That is now all changed since 1997

Law 16:

A goal kick is a method of restarting play.

A goal kick is awarded when the whole of the ball passes over the goal line, either on the ground or in the air, having last touched a player of the attacking team, and a goal is not scored in accordance with Law 10.

A goal may be scored directly from a goal kick, but only against the opposing team.

Directly means it went from the kicker of the goal kick all the way to the other goal and in without touching another single player from either team.
