Question Number: 25374Law 10 - Method of Scoring 8/30/2011RE: Rec, Select, Comptetive Adult Jeff of Orange County, CA USA asks...This question is a follow up to question 25323 There is a possibility that a player on the ground near the goal mouth, who is passed the ball by a teammate, could have been in offside position and the goal was called back for offside and not kicking the ball while being on the ground. Perhaps the spectator misunderstood the reason for the goal being disallowed? Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Jeff
Indeed you could be correct. There can be many reasons why a free kick is awarded which is only known to those close to the action and the referee.
