Question Number: 25448

Law 5 - The Referee 9/18/2011

RE: Competitive Under 19

Cory Elgin of Imperial Beach, CA San Diego asks...

What is the most comfortable referee shoe that you have used? I have been using the Vizari: Arbitro, but they just aren't working for me anymore. I figured the best people to ask about referee shoes would be referees. Thank you for your advice.

Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh

Hi Cory
It is a matter of personal preference.
A cursory glance at most referees would suggest Adidas World Cup or Copa Mundials as the most popular.
My preference if for Umbro's similar offering the Speciali with the logo removed. It is a better fit for me than the Adidas

Answer provided by Referee Dennis Wickham

The fields in San Diego County are hard. As a result, many referees wear black running shoes, and not cleats.

Answer provided by Referee Keith Contarino

I have worn Reebok black cross trainers for 10 years. I only wear my Umbro referee cleats on muddy fields
