Question Number: 25621Mechanics 10/17/2011RE: Under 15 new user of SF, CA US asks...This question is a follow up to question 25361 For pointing the flag I have been taught that if the blue team kicked it out point the flag towards the blue team's goal, becasue that is the direction the red team will be heading. vise versa, if red team kicked the ball out at the touchline point the flag towards the red team. View Referee Joe McHugh profileAnswer provided by Referee Gary Voshol You are right. Remember that in soccer the signals are not about what has happened, but about what will happen next. So if Red gets a throw-in or a free kick, you point in the direction Red is attacking.
