Question Number: 25698Law 15 - Throw In 11/2/2011RE: Pro Adult Olaitan adeleye of Ado ekiti, Ekiti state Nigeria asks...If a player throw in is own net is it a goal Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Olaitan A goal cannot be scored directly from a throw in. If a player throws the ball into his own goal from a throw in the restart is a corner kick. If it is an attacker who throws the ball in it is a goal kick. If the ball is in play and the ball is thrown into the goal say by the goalkeeper that is indeed a goal.

As strange as this situation would be, it would be a valid goal. 2) A player taking a throw-in and the ball goes directly into the goal. (I suspect this was what you were thinking about.) That is not a goal, as Law 15 states, 'A goal cannot be scored directly from a throw-in.'
