Question Number: 25976Law 5 - The Referee 2/16/2012RE: rec Under 15 ally surprenant of pembroke , mass usa asks...im a level 9 ref and i ref up to u10 games. what corse do i take next? there are refreshers corses, grade 8 and 9, and bridges classes..... Answer provided by Referee Keith Contarino Check with your referee assignor or State Association. In Georgia you would be required to take the bridge class not the Grade 8 class which is twice as long.

The regular grade 8 course covers all of the laws and the basic mechanics and runs at least 16 hours. The 'bridge' class from 9 to 8 recognizes that you received instruction during the Grade 9 class. But, many referees benefit from a refresher on all of the laws of the game. In my area, it is much easier to find a grade 8 class than a bridge class.
