Question Number: 26010Law 15 - Throw In 2/26/2012RE: rec Under 18 Nicky Dean of Woking, Surrey England asks...When taking a throw-in is it ok for a players foot to straddle the touch-line, eg the toes and ball of the foot to be inside the field of play and heel to be outside the touch-line. Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol Yes. The Laws say that 'part of' each foot must be on or behind the line. If part of the foot is on the line, the other part of the foot can be elsewhere, including on the field beyond the line.

As long as any part of the foot is touching any part of the line the throw in is legal. Many believe incorrectly that the feet must be behind the line.
