Question Number: 26204Law 11 - Offside 4/19/2012RE: Rec Adult Tony Bielby of Auckland, New Zealand asks...An attacker shoots, goalkeeper makes a save then another attacker (who was offside when the first shot came in) puts the ball in the net. Is tis a rebound? Offside or not? Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Tony No question this is offside. In Law it is covered under 'gaining an advantage by being in that position which means playing a ball that rebounds to him off a goalpost or the crossbar having been in an offside position or playing a ball that rebounds to him off an opponent having been in an offside position. Most saves are rebound but there may be the odd situation where the goalkeeper has made a save, has control of the ball and then loses it which is not a rebound. A parry for example would not be a rebound.

If the keeper 'saves' the ball by catching it and then releasing it back into play, all attackers may participate in play regardless of their position.
