Question Number: 26343Kicks From The Penalty mark 5/16/2012RE: High School Varsity Girls High School Wayne Thallander of Tracy, CA USA asks...If on a penalty kick to break a tie after scoreless overtime periods, the kick hits the post and continues into the goal, does it count? Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Wayne
No question that a goal is awarded. The ball can hit any combination of goalkeeper and frame of the goal and as long as the ball crosses the goal line between the posts and under the crossbar from the original momentum of the penalty kick a goal is awarded.

View Referee Joe McHugh profileAnswer provided by Referee Dennis Wickham Yes. The goal counts. High school (NFHS) rules are the same as under TLOG (the world's game) regarding when a goal can be scored in this situation. The kick continues until the momentum of the ball has been spent.
