Question Number: 26427Law 9 - The Ball in and out of Play 6/6/2012RE: Select Under 13 Doug Farinelli of Springfield, VA USA asks...If a player stop the ball from going out of bounds using a surface of the body that is out of bounds (i.e. ball is on the line thus inside touch will have the body surface out of bounds) is the call out of bounds? Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Doug
It is the position of the ball that counts not the position of the player. So if all of the ball has not crossed all of the line or plane of the line then the ball is still in play and play should continue.
Also it is not an offence for a player to move off the field of play as part of playing the ball.
