Question Number: 26501Law 15 - Throw In 6/26/2012RE: Adult Brian Casey of Newmarket, ON Canada asks... Law 15 A few years ago I recall players somersaulting prior to throwing in the ball to gain speed and distance. I'm sure this has since been addressed and is not allowed. I'm I correct??
Answer provided by Referee Dennis Wickham The flip throw is (and has been) lawful. As will other properly executed throw-ins, both feet must land on the ground.

View Referee Dennis Wickham profileAnswer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Brian There is nothing wrong with this method as long as in the opinion of the referee, the thrower: # faces the field of play # has part of each foot either on the touch line or on the ground outside the touch line # holds the ball with both hands # delivers the ball from behind and over his head # delivers the ball from the point where it left the field of play. A properly executed flip throw meets these requirement. When it doesn't the throw in is illegal and the ball is turned over to opponents for the throw in
