Question Number: 26561Law 15 - Throw In 7/20/2012RE: local comp Under 17 paul grant of strathalbyn, south australia australia asks...hi. the rule book i have states that a goal can not be scored directly from a throw it, but does not say what should happen if the ball enters the net directly from the throw.(we have played on some pretty small pitches, so it could happen some day) i suspect it would be the goal kick or corner kick senario as per indirect free kicks entering the goal net. could you confirm or set me straight. thanks paul Answer provided by Referee Jason Wright This would be the same as if an indirect free kick is kicked directly into the goal - it would simply be a goal kick (or corner kick, if it's gone that way).

If the thrower throws the ball directly into his own goal, a corner kick to the opponents is awarded. If the thrower throws the ball into the opponent's goal, a goal kick to the opponents is awarded.

The restart will be a corner kick or a goal kick depending on who was the last player to touch it. If it was the defending team who threw the ball out over their own goal line, it is a corner kick. If it was the attacking team that threw the ball out over their opponents' goal line, then it is a goal kick.
