Question Number: 26941Kicks From The Penalty mark 10/25/2012RE: 4 Adult Younan Moushi of Sydney, NSW Australia asks...Hey guys, With a penalty kick. If the kicker shoots the ball and the keeper saves it but then the ball bobbles back towards the goal line and rolls in then is that indeed a goal? Or is it dead because ball stopped forward motion? Thanks in regards Answer provided by Referee Dennis Wickham It is a goal. On a PK (in extended time) or kicks from the penalty mark, the ball is still live so long as, in the referee's opinion, it still has momentum from the kick (or any deflection off the keeper or crossbar). Direction is irrelevant.

There is nothing about the direction or the momentum of the ball in the Laws. The ball can hit any combination of goalkeeper, frame of the goal, ground etc and once it crosses the goal line a goal will be awarded.
