Law 13 - Free kicks: just a clarification question. Indirect infringement occurred with the goal box (some call within the 6). Because its an indirect infringement I'm to have the kick taken from the 'goal area line parallel to the goal line... '. The goal area line is the line informally known as the 6 correct?
If this same offense occurs within the penalty box (also know as the 18) but outside of the goal box, the indirect kick is taken from the spot of the infringement.

Does that sound right?

That's correct.

I. When the kick is being taken by the attacking team for a foul by the defending team inside the goal area:

(a) direct free kick foul - penalty kicks.

(b) indirect free kick foul: - free kick taken at goal area line (6 yard line parallel to the goal line) perpendicular to the spot of the foul.


II. When any kick (direct or indirect) is being taken by the defending team for a foul by the attacking team inside the goal area, the kick can be taken anywhere in the goal area. (The restart looks a goal kick.)

That is correct. An IDFK is taken from the place where the infrigement took place. Inside the goal area that is not really feasible so the IDFK is always taken from the 6 yard line directly opposite from where the infrigement to place. Defending players then retreat to the goal line or 10 yards from behind or to the side of the ball.
