Question Number: 27043League Specific 11/28/2012RE: College showcase Under 18 tom McGonnigle of yonkers, ny USA asks...Can my son play for 2 different teams at the same tournament, the teams are of course in 2 different divisions and brackets? Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Tom That is a matter for the competition rules. Competitions generally have rules preventing players playing in different divisions and also playing for different teams. My advice to parents is to encourage your child to play in their own age group and at the appropriate level. Injuries happen when players are playing too much and against stronger players.

They may also allow guest players, usually players who are rostered on other teams in the same club. Some leagues allow players to be rostered on two teams under certain conditions. One league rule I knew of required that one team be designated the 'primary' team; they then declared that the team in their league was the 'primary' one. This was to resolve questions of which team the player would be with in the event of a conflict of game or practice times. At a tournament where teams will play 3 or 4 games in one weekend, possibly followed by playoffs, it's wiser to be on just one team. It will be too much for the player to handle. Only the refs can be expected to run that much. (Joke)
