Question Number: 27055Law 16 - Goal Kick 12/6/2012RE: Under 15 Rajan of Van Nuys, California USA asks...What is the restart if the Red Team takes a goal kick that strikes the referee just outside of the Red Team's penalty area and rebounds into the Red Team's goal?

As the ball has left the penalty area it is in play. A team cannot score directly on itself from a goal kick so the restart is a corner kick.

However, from your description, it only hit the referee and never hit any other player. You cannot score on yourself directly at any restart so since the ball crossed the goal line last touched by a defending player, the restart is a corner kick.
