Question Number: 27210Kicks From The Penalty mark 2/27/2013RE: Rec Under 15 Mike of Boston, MA USA asks...This question is a follow up to question 27205 Regarding reduce to equate: Can the goalkeeper be the player chosen to NOT to take a penalty kick but still be the goalkeeper? Answer provided by Referee Jason Wright No. The extra player needs to leave the field of play.

No, the excluded player must leave the field of play so it is not possible for the goalkeeper to be chosen and remain in the game.
Obviously the goalkeeper can be chosen to leave the field of play but then another outfield player has to assume the goalkeeping duties which I assume a team would not want to do.

View Referee Joe McHugh profileAnswer provided by Referee Dennis Wickham The team may indicate that the goalkeeper is the one who will be withdrawn, but then the original goalkeeper is no longer able to participate in the kicks from the penalty mark phase in any capacity. Another eligible player must become the goalkeeper.
