Question Number: 27366Law 15 - Throw In 4/28/2013RE: Adult FMA of Hobart, TAS AUST asks...Hi all.
Great reference site.
On a throw in if the throw is taken but does NOT enter the FOP, can the throw be deemed an illegal one if thrower lifts there feet. Does the throw then go to opponents or is it simply retaken ?

If a throw in is incorrectly taken and it does not enter the field of play the throw in is turned over. It is only retaken if the throw in is taken correctly.

View Referee Joe McHugh profileAnswer provided by Referee Gary Voshol This was changed about 3 or 4 years ago. A phrase was inserted into the Interpretations and Guidance section of the Laws that a throw-in that did not enter the field would be retaken 'provided it was taken in line with the correct procedure.'
