Question Number: 27388League Specific 5/3/2013RE: Comp Under 19 Ghadir of Melbourne , Victoria Australia asks...Do both tech areas HAVE to be on the same side of the pitch? Or can we have the two areas on opposite sides of pitch, but adhering to size and distance guidelines? Answer provided by Referee Jason Wright The Laws of the Game allow for the competition rules to determine the size and position of the Technical Areas. The competition rules for Football Federation Victoria fixtures are available on the FFV website at http://www.footballfedvic.com.au/index.php?id=948, and do state that both technical areas must be on the same side. This applies to both juniors and seniors.

View Referee Jason Wright profileAnswer provided by Referee Joe McHugh Hi Ghadir The Laws of the Game makes reference to one technical area and it is understood that the area should be on one side of the field of play only. That makes sense in that it is easier to control one area plus it is easier to deal with multiple substitutions.
